SMPS Design: Load Sharing Issues – Video Tutorial

The video below explains us about the load sharing issues in SMPS (switched mode power supply) design. This video tell us that load sharing connects the load with more Power Supply together to empower the load. Usually there more modules with more total power capability that required by the system. If one power module failed, remaining module continue to supply power to the system.

Load sharing is requirement in large computer system power supply. Ideally, all module share the load equally. But sometimes component and wiring differences cause some modules to work harder than others. The heavily loaded modules get hotter and reliability drops causing failures or called Domino Effect.
